Anxiety help for Elise

Elise has mutism and suffers from various anxiety and mental health conditions that impact her everyday life.

She is finding it impossible to attend school and does not communicate with teachers or her peers and has been the subject of bullying which does not help with her mental health.

Her parents and key-workers thought that pony therapy sessions may help her overcome some of her anxiety and so we paid for 8-weeks of sessions to see if this could help.

Elise's mum said

"Elise has loved the sessions and the horse riding has been a time for Elise to maintain her confidence and build relationships with the staff at the riding school. She is now communicating a little with gestures and nods which is great. It has also been something she has looked forward to after some horrible incidents at schools"

Elise's attendance at school has improved and she is now getting the help she needs through an EHCP plan which will do her the world of good.

We are glad we could help Elise through this period.

Elise managed some thoughts and through her mum said

"Thank you, its very kind of them. I really enjoyed all of my lessons. The horse i rode today is called Joey, he is a very sweet pony but can be a bit cheeky. He was absolutely filthy today because he had been rolling around in mud in the fields before my lesson.

I really liked riding Bonnie, she was really well behaved. She is quite an old horse.

I enjoyed the stable management, i learned how to put a blanket on the ponies, cleaning the stable, bailing up the hay and how many ponies should be in it and how many bails of hay should be put out for them.

It was very cold and the ponies don't like doing lessons in the cold and get a bit lazy. It meant my legs had to work harder to encourage them.

Thank you for all of this, I am very grateful."
